TODAYS jerk of the week award goes to Marek, Tere and Mike Miller

On the Today Show this morning Tere and Mike Miller were all sad and broken up about the stuff they lost in the wildfire that went through their neighborhood. And how they should have packed up stuff before hand and the tribulations of saving their dogs.

I know what you are thinking Carl you are being a heartless bastard these people just lost their house and all their stuff show some compassion. I say to hell with that because they are also cowards for one they have insurance and 2 they had time to prepare for the fire storm approaching their neighborhood. The reason I deem them worthy of such a cowardly award and are doing their part to contribute to the downfall of society. They were trying to get a hold of someone using 911 to check on their handicapped neighbor, When they were right freaking there. If you ran away and ditched your neighbor to burn to death why the hell would you talk about it on national TV. You think someone is going to give you a goddamn medal for inaction.

From the transcript

“We were trying to wake her up — get her going,” Mike Miller said. “I was banging on her door and banging on her door and yelling and never heard anything, really — I heard a little rustling in there, but that was it. The fire was right there, right at our house, so we got in the car.”

BAM Right there people Evil wins Satan laughs, Loki raises a beer and baby Jesus Cries. HOLY CRAP PEOPLE your handicapped neighbor is trapped in their house you take the initiative to pound on the door untill you get a response and then … YOU FREAKING LEAVE!?! WHAT THE HEL IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!

When they returned to what had been their home, the neighbor’s van was still in her driveway and her house was still standing — only the Millers’ home had burned. Asked if the woman was OK, Mike Miller said, “We don’t know.”

I just hope that their neighbor is ok. That some other soul came after you ran away to help her I am glad that her house was spared and her van was not reduced to a pile of rubble. You have to find it fitting that the only house burnt is the house that belongs to the people that abandoned their neighbor to the ensuing flames just to save their own skin. Perhaps the reasoning their house burnt and their neighbors didn’t can be summed up in the quote attributed to Burke; “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing”.

I honestly believe that the gods test us on our ability to follow their teachings. As humans we are supposed to look out for each other. Who knows perhaps their house would have been saved if they would have taken the time to actually help and not run away to save their own skin and their little dogs too.

Ok, I told you how I felt on this but felt the need to post it. WHY THE HEL do people like this get tv time to try to get our sympathy??? And what happened to taking care of your neighbors? If they knew she was handicapped they should have found a way to break into the house, unlocked window or back door or frankly break a window. I don’t think she would have held the break in against them and they could always repair any damage they did later if the house was still there.

  2. Cavie Says:

I agree wholeheartedly. They pound on the door til they hear rustling…..a very major indicator someone was there…..and then leave her, possibly to burn trpapped in her own home. May all justice that can attack their karma.

You do not know the Millers. Sympathy is the last thing on their mind. You do not know the whole story on what happened at those very moments when the fire was was raging. Or when the interview took place. Or what interviews the Millers declined. You do not know the neighbor!
How dare you critize! Until you have been in someone else shoes, you have no right!
Do you have nothing better to write about?
Just to let you know the neighbor is fine. The Millers had professionals come out to the house and evacuate her. She was taken care of at the Qualcom stadium in the medical sector of the center.
People need to hear positive and up-lifting news in this tragic time. You have that power and influence to help in a positive way, please use it!!

Hey Pam thanks for the comment
First off I don’t know the Millers nor do I care to. I also do not know the neighbor. I personally am not affected by their declined interviews or the potential book deals or lifetime movies of the week.
From their own mouths they made it sound as if there was no time what so ever. That is the time of action. From a professional standpoint it takes us on average 3-5 minutes to leave the station house to respond to any emergency… It does not matter if it is a fire medical or cat in a tree. Now you have to add in drive time. Suppose they are 10 miles away from a fire station and there are available professional personnel available to respond you have a minimum of 7-10 minutes drive time so we are at what 15 minutes.
They were right there got a response out of the neighbor and left to attempt to contact a professional via a clogged 911 system, with every available person trying to put out the fire, that was ravaging the neighborhood.
Ma’am I appreciate your comment and I heartily disagree. If you would like a positive uplifting topic then I suggest you read this article

This is what 1 person can do in the face of danger

I have to say that I believe you are an ignorant, arrogant idiot. Especially being a fire fighter, or should I say a wanna-be hero, who has no compassion for people, or the people you are entrusted to serve.

If you worked in my community, which I’m thankful you don’t, I would not want you to serve on our voluntary Fire Department.

by the way, the picture of you all dressed up in your little fire fiter suit cracks me up.

  6. Glenn Says:

I think you are right on target. The people complaining about your negative comments regarding the Millers are the same ones who stare at the injured at the scene of an accident but don’t assist. The farthest they are willing to go is dial 911.
The Millers acted more like rats fleeing a sinking ship. They may live next door to the handicapped woman, but they have proved themselves not to be her neighbor.
